My name is Jaatje
I am thrilled to meet you! The Colour Collectors shop started in two ways: 1) I come from a long line of sewing women - in our family the women on both my mom and dad's side sewed almost all their clothes and passed on this passion of making as part of their heritage. I am proud and happy to be able to continue this legacy and in the process empower other women-makers through a shared passion for sewing.
The second starting point was after I had my son! I just couldn't find clothes that made me feel like me, and that I could wear throughout my changing body's shape. So, the very first item I ever designed was our Artist's Dress - a dungaree dress that can adjust to any body size, super suitable for breastfeeding - and it made me feel feminine and beautiful with very little effort.
From these two starting points, I decided to leave my previous career as architectural colour designer and paint retailer behind and start out on this wild journey of mom entrepreneur.
The quest is to dress women in adjustable clothes made from natural fabrics that make them feel beautiful and powerful.

Our garments and homeware items are designed and made by a small group of women in Cape Town in such a way to add value to each individual who forms part of the creation process to bring you your beautiful new item of joy.
